MnDOT to host Hwy 60 open house June 4 in Windom
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an open house for the Hwy 60 Windom project on Tuesday, June 4 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Windom Community Center, 1750 Cottonwood Lake Dr.
During the open house style meeting, attendees can learn more about plans for 2025 construction, as well as the proposed restriping of four to three lanes. There is no formal presentation and people are welcome to arrive at any time. Following the open house, there will be a public hearing on the project during the Windom City Council meeting starting at 6:30 p.m.
In 2025, MnDOT will replace the signals and make Americans with Disabilities upgrades at the Hwy 60 intersections with 6th St. and 10th St. in Windom. MnDOT is also proposing to restripe a three-lane configuration as a pilot for community demonstration, consisting of one through lane in each direction and a center left turn lane. The pilot is based on a preferred option from the 2019-2021 Hwy 60 Windom Corridor Study, with a goal of improving safety and traffic flow while maintaining business access through the city.
