Public meeting March 14: Future Buffalo to Monticello Hwy 25 project

ST. CLOUD, Minn. –The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the communities of Buffalo and Monticello to an open house for the future Highway 25 project from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Wright County Highway Department, 3600 Braddock Avenue NE, in Buffalo.

In 2021, a corridor study identified improvement needs along the corridor between Catlin Street in Buffalo and Kjellberg Court in south Monticello, and now the project team is ready to show designs and answer questions. The event is drop-in style, so guests can arrive at their convenience.

Overall, MnDOT will:

  • Reconstruct the road surface, includes shoulders and turn lanes
  • Improve the turn-around (extend shoulder) south of Kjellberg Court
  • Replace pipes and improve ditch drainage
  • Construct a roundabout at County Road 37
  • Construct a roundabout at Catlin Street in Buffalo

In 2024, Wright County will construct a roundabout at Highway 25 and County Road 83/35th Street NE in Buffalo. The work will require a detour.

When complete in 2026, the estimated $15.1 million project will provide for a smoother road surface and improve traveler access and safety along seven miles of Highway 25.
