Enforcing stormwater requirements

The following link contains guidance and templates to help with enforcement of erosion control and stormwater requirements of MnDOT contracts.

Erosion control supervisor

Do you have what it takes to be an erosion control supervisor?

Erosion control supervisors on MnDOT projects must have a current Construction Site Management certification from either the University of Minnesota’s Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification Program or the Minnesota Utility Contractors Association (MUCA).  Lists of certified people can be found at the following websites.  The lists are not updated constantly, so it is possible that a person has taken the class recently but does not appear on the list.  In that case they will have a certificate showing they have completed the Construction Site Management class.

Stormwater inspections

The following template and instructions are for contractors to use to document weekly and post-rain construction stormwater inspection reports on MnDOT projects. Alternative formats can be used as long as they provide the same information and level of detail described in the documents below.

Reporting spills and sediment releases

MnDOT specs require the contractor's Erosion Control Supervisor to report spills and sediment discharges to the state duty officer.  See the following documents for more information.
